Hi! I’m Rachel, a content creator based in Durham, North Carolina.

I’m currently the student affairs coordinator at Duke Law School. In this role, I advise student organizations, coordinate our LEAD Fellows mentorship program, plan programs, and assist with major events.

My immediate past role was as the communications specialist at Duke Law School. I used to wear a lot of different hats. Some days I was a photographer, a social media manager, and a designer. Other days I was a videographer, a writer, and my department’s unofficial “youth ambassador” who keeps a pulse on what interests students.

Before coming to Duke, I served as a student affairs specialist at HACC – Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Although my work wasn’t directly related to communications, it was there that I realized how much I truly enjoyed working in higher education. While I was in graduate school at Shippensburg University, I landed an internship with Volvo Construction Equipment as an internal communications specialist. There I received hands-on experience in corporate communication and community engagement. I’m fortunate to be able to use the experience from all of my previous positions in communications and higher education and have a job that I honestly love and have fun doing.

I’m a firm believer that in order to authentically capture student life, you have to be a part of their community and genuinely interested in what they’re doing. Fortunately for me, that’s been really easy to do at Duke. The students have an infectious energy and it’s hard not to get excited about the events they’re hosting or the initiatives they’re spearheading.

Offline, I enjoy spending time with my hubby James, our dog Riley, and our cat Chubby, listening to podcasts (Oprah’s Master Class and Royally Obsessed are my favs right now), cooking, going to the beach, and binge-watching Netflix.

If you’d like to connect, feel free to drop a line.

Rachel,

Thank you for going above and beyond the call of duty to help me out throughout my time at Duke. Whether it meant helping me publicize the Weil PE event, taking a flattering photo of me for the alumni piece, or tracking down class photo/graduation day pictures, you never ceased to impress me. We are so blessed to have you at Duke Law.
